Send in an official support ticket via the support tab in game. Then they'll look in to it faster!
Also i would remove your email addy unless you want to receive a huge load of spam.

Then again, the only reason I did this was so I could quote to preserve your e-mail in case a wild edit appears.

no.
There was an issue with old accounts that were not used for a long time. They were all wiped out.
I think I might have seen a post by the devs somewhere that if someone needs their unused accout back it would cost around 1000 ochos due to the big amount of work in restoring backups from old tapes.
